Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2026
1. Who you are contracting with
The Living Library ("the Service") is operated by Jason Plant, a sole trader trading as "The Living Library" ("we", "us", or "our"). By using the Service, you are entering into a binding agreement with Jason Plant. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.
2. The Nature of the Conversations
All conversations are AI-generated reflections in the spirit of each book. They are not the actual authors, and they are not the books themselves. Responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or invented. Use them as inspiration, not as authoritative advice (medical, legal, financial, spiritual, or otherwise).
You are responsible for your prompts, how you use the outputs, verifying their accuracy before relying on them, and for having the rights to any content you provide as input.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or abusive purposes.
- Attempt to extract verbatim copyrighted text from any book.
- Generate content that is illegal, hateful, defamatory, sexually exploitative of minors, or designed to harass or deceive.
- Attempt to jailbreak, prompt-inject, or otherwise circumvent the Service's safety controls.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, probe for vulnerabilities, deploy malware, or overload the Service.
- Misrepresent generated content as the original author's words.
- Resell, redistribute, or share account credentials with third parties.
4. Accounts and Subscriptions
Some features require an account or paid subscription. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for any activity under your account. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account or via Paddle's customer portal; cancellation stops future renewals and access continues until the end of the current paid period.
5. Payments and Merchant of Record
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns, refunds, billing, tax, and chargebacks.
Payment terms, billing frequency, taxes, cancellations, and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. See our Refund Policy for our 30-day money-back guarantee.
6. Intellectual Property
Book titles and authors referenced are the property of their respective rights holders. The Service interface, branding, software, and generated experience are owned by Jason Plant trading as The Living Library. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for your personal use within the plan you have selected. If you believe any output infringes your rights, contact us at the address below and we will review and act on legitimate takedown requests; repeat infringement may result in termination.
7. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee accuracy, uninterrupted availability, or fitness for any particular purpose. AI outputs are not a substitute for professional advice and should not be relied upon for regulated decisions without independent verification.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jason Plant trading as The Living Library is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by negligence, where such exclusion would be unlawful.
9. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, with or without notice, if: (a) you materially breach these Terms; (b) your account becomes delinquent or a payment is reversed; (c) we detect fraud, abuse, or a security risk associated with your account; or (d) we are required to do so by law. You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification — will continue to apply.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
